Supetarska Draga
Supetarska Draga is one of the oldest places on the island of Rab, surrounded by a series uninhabitet islands with wild untouched beaches. If you are planning the excursion, make sure you bring something to eat and enough water, because there is nothing there but the sun, sand and sea.
It is situated in the northern part of the island , halfway between the city of Rab (6km ) and Lopar (5km ). This place is divided into three parts: Upper and Lower Supetarska Draga and the Gonar . A rich history has left its mark in today’s settlement, and therefore at every step can find a rich historical ruins.
The Church of St . Peter is the oldest church on the island , and next to it are the remains of an old Benedictian monastery. Especially the old bell of the church , which is considered the oldest bell in Croatia .
The old mill is also very interesting, and deffinitelly should visit it. It is the only mill preserved on the island, and in it you can see the original parts from the Middle Ages. Islands Maman , Šajlovac and Sridnjak with its beaches are one of the most romantic places on the island, accessible only by boat will make you old Robinson and encourage adventurer in you.
Thanks to the long maritime tradition, this place is favourite destination of the most sailors. There is also the oldest Benedictine convent on the island, whose beauties attract both local people and tourists. We recommend you to visit Supetarska Draga on 29th of June when the locals celebrate the feast of st. Peter.
